In the early days of building this company, while taking grant writing classes and exploring what this next chapter could be, I lost my beloved horse unexpectedly. We called him Andy, though his show name was Landstar. I never warmed to his show name, nor did I show much, so it didn’t really matter.

As I struggled to name the business and imagine its identity, images of lighthouses kept appearing, perhaps influenced by life on the coast. I began thinking about the guiding light they provide, a “land star,” and suddenly his name took on new meaning. It felt right to carry it forward as I built something new.

Andy was always a steady presence in my life, offering both physical therapy and emotional grounding. Naming the company Landstar became a quiet tribute to the calm, guidance, and strength he gave me, and the same qualities I aim to bring to the organizations I serve.
